Self-Decoupled MIMO Antenna Realized by Adjusting the Feeding Positions

This paper proposes a novel decoupling technique achieved by adjusting the position of feeding probes antennas. Two inherent radiation modes (patch mode and monopole mode), with different patterns polarizations, are simultaneously excited same probe. High isolation is realized based on manipulating relationship two-mode couplings moving positions. Since two generated antenna element, proposed MIMO features simple structure compact size. For verification, two-element array center-to-center spacing 0.404 ?0 (?0 wavelength in air) prototyped characterized. Simulation experimental results show that can offer higher port (>18.1 dB), increased efficiency (>70%), lower envelope correlation coefficient (ECC < 0.1) operating frequency band (11.61–12.49 GHz).
